LOOK AT THE AUDREY KAWASAKI PIECE NOM NOM NOM! Hilariously (and expectedly) hers is already up over $100USD. NO ONE IS SHOCKED!
I have a whole mess of them on watch, we’ve already donated to the Japan appeal and I usually prefer to actually donate directly to a charity instead of purchasing something to help, BUT! OMG! I am so hoping to be able to afford one of them, or if not then I’ll be very pleased to help bump the prices up for Japan! GO GO!
Amongst the craziness of social & family commitments, so many weddings, being a constant bridesmaid (and loving it), being an upcoming bride, my absurd state of health etc etc something has been slowly taking over my life for the past year or so. As a consequence, BIG big changes to my blog are scheduled soon, and my time is happily being consumed by yarn.
You heard me, yarn.
Though I’ve been honing my knitting, crochet has become an obsessive great love and though I’ve known how to do it since my Mum taught me as a small child, and I’ve picked it up now and again throughout my life, this last year has been slowly filling more and more with yarn, so now our lounge room is also filling more and more with yarn. Consequently some really awesome opportunities have been thrown my way and I’ve jumped into the path of others.
Ah, OBB, sometimes you infuriate me with posts about weddings that are questionably ‘off beat’ but often you bring the WIN to my inbox!
Honestly, how freaken cute are these custom-made African and European Swallows, completely ecstatic about their coconut payload?
A lot of theaircastle‘s cake toppers are just a little TOO kitsch for my liking, and then some tread that awesome AWESOME line of just the right amount. Like the Mini Owls in Love. Magnifique!
Anthropologie has always been an evil and horrendous purveyour of too much pretty. Those bastards. And they’re at it again, this time making me pine for rugs that I cannot have – and now must actually learn how to properly make my own for my future pie-in-the-sky house. Perhaps thats what I’ll put on my rugs. Pie. In the sky.
Everyone likes pai. Raight?
But it did make me hunt out the delectable arts of Maxine Sutton and have me grabby handsing and pretty much everything – even things I have ZERO use for like the lavender spoons (or soons as the product id would have it xD). WHAT AM I GOING TO DO WITH THAT, I CAN’T EVEN SMELL LAVENDER. xD
Eeehheheeeee!! I know Christmas is actually supposed to be over down under, but since Greg and I are only half way through our MASSIVE CHRISTMAS EXTRAVAGANZA (and it’s still well and truly Christmas in the States xD) I’m feeling totally within my bounds to pimp these festive paper creatures.
More and more I’ve been seriously getting into papercraft, or the idea of it and how to incorporate it into designs for work. So when I stumbled onto the mibo studio store I think I let out a squee for a full minute complete. LOOK HOW ADORABLES! The little one with his eyes closed!? AUUUUUUGH! Though I’m not sure if the deer looking like he’s trapped in the headlights of an oncoming vehicle is REALLY that festive… Although, SOME famous chefs do advocate the eating of roadkill, and venison is MIGHTY delicious…
*whistles*
PS: CHRISTMAS JOKE TIME!
Two elks were sitting in a tree. A submarine landed in the tree next to them. And one elk said “Maybe he lives there.”
AHAHHAAA How freaken festively ADORABLE are these?!!? EEEEEEE!! Found a week or so ago, I’ve been totally squeeing over Kit Lane’s Little Oddjects etsy store pretty much daily from then.
How anyone could resist her non-traditional felted cuties I have no idea, especially compounded by her terminology when titling and describing them. The very idea of bringing them home and having them have little adventures about your house overflows me with nothing short of a whimsical Sylvanian Families meets David the Gnome delight.
AHAHAHAAA!!! I’m all giddy from the thought right now, and I’m just looking at the pictures!
Under a minimal quantity of arm twisting, largely by my lovely not-quite-but-totally-are-in-laws, I capitulated to putting together a wishlist for Christmas this year. Though my Vintage Nettles blog is largely a wish-list of sorts, this time around (unlike last time I tried to make a wishlist for a gifting event) I actually can pinpoint items I’d really adore!
Though I’ve realised that I’m in MASSIVE UBER OVERCLOCKED nesting mode, as 90% of the items I originally came up with are practical (but PRETTY!) items that I feel we need for our home, and it was actually a struggle to put ‘frippery’ on the list even though there’s surely a lot of items I’d love to have. Priority shift, I must be getting old. Or stealth clucky. Possibly both. ;)
I’ve wanted one of her 17″ Macbook Pro Gelaskins but never actually purchased one (poverty somehow manages to win out over vanity), but AUGH! This one is a kicker. DO WANT iPHONE, DARN YOUR ENABLING, AK! xD
PS: First time posting with Press This. QUITE enamored of the feature already :D
Sillhouette Masterpiece Theatre by Wilhelm Staehle
If you know me, you know I have a rather… Morbid side and Sillhouette Masterpiece Theatre appeals to that in spades. Oh lords, the puns, I am sorry. Classic victorian era paintings with victorian sillhouettes coupled with delicious typography and usually black humour. Perfection in an art piece!
Though his news feed is on twitter – we’ll forgive him that the world appears to be there, loudly proclaiming themselves to be twits – the work is gorgeously executed and you feel compelled to purchase every single item in the shop – Oh, I’m, sorry, the epically named Bazaarium. Perhaps to put along your hallway or plastered upon the walls of your wood-panelled den in between your mounted deer heads and antlers. Crude? Rude? Innappropriate? MOST DEFINITELY, ENJOY!
‘loish has to be one of my all time favourite deviantartists. Though I don’t react as violently as my friend Jenji (who has uttered more than once that it makes her sick how awesome [loish’s] art is xD), I find this animation student’s art incredibly inspiring and freakishly mood altering.
You can purchase a lot of her work as prints, the image I’ve chosen to showcase, ‘evening glow‘ included, as well as copies of her fruit series. I ADORE ‘blackfruit,’ she really reminds me of me and thusly I WANT that outfit she’s wearing with a want of a thousand fiery wantings.
One of her newest exploits of meeting the challenge of drawing ‘yourself’ in four stages of life cracks me up and COMPLETELY makes me want to try it out myself. BUT GD if I know what I was like while I was a teen. I think you have some kind of internal switch that makes you forget else you die of humiliation xD xD
